El Dorado Rum comes from a blend of various South American rums carefully selected and distilled in the historic stills of the Demerara distillery in the state of Guyana. The area is particularly fertile: on the banks of the Rio Demerara, some of the best sugar cane in the world is grown. The distillery is the only one to survive the mass closure that occurred after the Second World War and houses the stills of the others. The focal point of the company’s work is this: maintaining the ancient infrastructure and producing its own yeasts for fermentation, to guarantee a genuine, high-quality product. The rum is aged in oak ex-bourbon barrels: Demerara Distillers produces various spirits, called “marks, from a stock of approximately 100,000 barrels. El Dorado is born from the blend of various rums: the youngest distillate is no less than 12 years old. Amber in color, a strong flavor with hints of honey and sugar, and a long, lingering finish that’s a real treat: enriched by the scent of oak wood, where it completes its aging, this spirit is a versatile product with great character. Perfect for drinking alone or in cocktails, El Dorado rum has won several awards, including a double gold medal for two consecutive years at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London.
