I still haven't tried 800x yet. Still using AA#7. 180gr XTP's over 11.5 AA#7.

Loaded a bunch of Barry's 180gr HP over 12.5gr AA#7. Going to see how they do on falling plate and gongs...

i was gonna get some more Longshot for 200gr bowling pin killers, but i think i gonna try the 800x.

does anyone have any high end pressures numbers with that much powder of 800x.

there is no high end numbers that i was able to locate.

The imr book shows 8.4 grns 800x at 1190 fps and 33900 psi, I read somewhere that 10.0 grns was at 40000 psi.

Ahh... wow. Very bold data... I've gotten similar numbers with similar loads but had never gone past 10.5gr Blue Dot or past 9.7gr 800X.... Interesting data.

I carefully worked up to 10 grains 800X (McNett's load from GT years back). New brass.
In my stock G20 200 grain was 1273 fps
In the 6" Jarvis I got 1366 fps.
Some of the primers were just starting to get worrisome.
A super hunting load for sure but not a everyday shoot em' up load.

I still prefer the Swampfox load for hunting with the 200 gr. XTP (10.0 grains longshot bunch of threads talk about it) It clocks just north of 1350 fps from my G20 with a Storm lake 5.2" barrel and 22# spring set up. Nothing I've seen is safely that hot.

I have squirreled away 250 rounds of the factory stuff and handload my woods defense as needed. It verged on being my all in one carry load for awhile till they closed shop ........ moment of silence.......... but I had feed issues with the combination. One in every 50-75 rounds would fail go completely into battery and require a slap to the back of the slide. Might have been the barrel tolerances being too tight or me limp wristing it, not sure, but if a combo is not near 100% I don't carry it for defense. Also it wrapped my middle finger something terrible.

The velocity with the 200 gr. XTP was sheer awesome to behold in all my ammo testing. With over 800 fpe and a Taylor KOF of 15.5 it sits at home with mild .44 mag loads. I bust it out at testing or shoots when nay sayers state that a 10mm has nothing over a .40 or .45.

AA#7 is all I use in the 10...works great, meters extremely well and shoots fairly clean.
I have no problems working up loads with it. I've tried AA#9 also but you don't need to use it. I can achieve near same velocity and outstanding consistency with #7.

As I also shoot a good bit of plated lead to save money, it was cause for pause when I read "Barry's 180gr HP over 12.5gr AA#7."

That's the bullet I've been loading but with 9.5gr of AA#7 for approx. 1020fps..  Accurate Arms load manual shows: min.  9.9gr./1051fps  to  max.  11.0gr/1195fps.

I just cut the minimum load by a bit for starters... it cycled fine, grouped good, so I deemed it OK for practice.

Guess what I'm saying is, without trying to be "MR. Sam Safety",  isn't 12.5gr. a might hot for a lead bullet?

Have you shot some yet? How were they?

I tried some 800x loads but had to measure each load on the scale. I couldn't get it to meter well at all. I ended up going back to power pistol and longshot. I'll have to try AA#9 and AA#7 next.
