I was flipping you crap about tempting me. [emoji23]

I already have a YHM can. I have the 30LT. It is a qd and uses the same mount as that new 5.56 can. If I can scrape up the coin I'd like a dedicated 5.56 can.

My buddy was telling me I could get a 30 cal suppressor and just buy one with a replaceable end cap that was .22 cal.

You could. I like the idea of having a 5.56 and a 30cal can that can both use the same mounts. The cool thing about the YHM cans is that the 30 cal will not fit a 5.56 mount so you cannot accidentally mount them incorrectly.

The setups I've seen online are WAY less than $200.

Perhaps we were looking at different components.

God bless you ,my mother had Parkinson's disease and her neighbors had a love for loud rap music and made her life more miserable than it already was.

Yup, the Socialist Mayor and City Council hasn't banned my property....................yet.  Two miles closer to town is the "line" though.  I worry too much about my neighbor's privacy, Greg.  Just me!  Next door neighbor has Parkinson's Disease and gets upset easily.  No need to make matters worse than necessary.  Gotta keep da peace!

  Ya think?????

Neat site.  I've never seen or heard of it before.  Where in God's creation do you find these sites?????  Guess I'm going to have to take a course at the Vo-Tech on how to use Search Engines effectively!  segrin.gif

Search engine? On this one I just brought up Google and typed in MAGLIGHT SOLVENT TRAP. It was as easy as giving a yawn when you're tired.

Google and I are close friends. If I call in other search engines I'm really wanting to do a deep dive. G. usually suffices but sometimes it is lacking.

You guys have confused me once again.

Solvent traps?

I need to get out more...

Don't try and explain it, I don't want to know.

A DIY suppressor made with a maglight flashlight tube. A company in Prescott AZ sold the "KITS" and ended up getting shut down like an elephant stomping a June bug.

The short of it is there are vendors out there selling "solvent trap" gadgets that are basically a machined part that has threads on each end. One end is threaded to screw onto your muzzle. The other has threads to fit common oil filters. The "idea" is that you thread this onto your rifle to collect the solvents used when scrubbing out the bore.

Some folks got the clever idea this would also work as a suppressor once you poked a hole in the bottom of the filter. The ATF has come down hard on folks doing this and even an FBI agent was prosecuted for having done this.

What the idiots who do this forget is "constructive intent".

I've seen the maglite can kits and parts. And as Greg points out that is another can o'worms and some businesses have been shut down.

Some day I'd like to make my own can. I have the skills and tools to do this. But as I've said before, maybe even in this thread, I will not pay for permission to exercise a right. Nor will I illegally engage in the practice until it's legally viable for me to do so. I like my rights to remain intact.

I had high hopes for the removal of suppressors from the NFA in the last session of Congress. Then came Las Vegas.

I, also, was hoping the legality of the situation would change.................but, as you say,  that was before Las Vegas.w

Way in the past, I considered making one and using it to shoot.  Then remove it and put my flash suppressor back on in-between shooting sessions.  I'm not about to pay the gooberment for the right to have one.  I just can't bring myself to do that because it's breaking the law.   I'm just doing research because when the restrictions are lifted, I'd like to make one because there's no way I can afford to buy one commercially.
