A wine that celebrates the Abruzzo winemaking tradition, the result of long maceration on the skins and aging in large barrels and barriques. Founded in 1973, Citra is the leading winemaking company in Abruzzo, uniting eight proven wineries, all located in the province of Chieti, in a region with extraordinary potential, the historic birthplace of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo. Harvested by hand. Initially aged in large barrels, until the wine reaches a structural complexity that supports further aging in barriques. Red fruit, blackberry and morello cherry jam, and hints of violet. Appreciable nuances of vanilla, cocoa, hazelnut, leather, licorice, and black pepper. Intense red with violet and purple hues. Pleasantly tannic and balanced, with a long, persistent finish.
