Trousseau Les Lumachelles by is a natural wine made in Jura with grapes, grown in Cramans just north of Arbois in the north of the region.
For sure still a strong hype producer from the Jura region, dreadlocked Etienne Thiebaud deserves all the credit he gets. Notoriously shy and obsessed with a dedication in the vineyard, farming by horse and seemingly not interested in many modern aspects of life – this producer really is all about the wine and not the fame.
His wines are ones which are always a solid bet in the cool wine bars, rarely letting you down and often with a wonderful, precise balance between minerality, energy and depth.
This is his Trousseau “Lumachelles”, grown on limestone soils on part of his 4.5 hectares as part of the Cotes du Jura appellation. Expect bright blackberry and cherry fruit expressed boldly through semi-carbonic maceration alongside a mild pepper touch and some wilder edges keeping it raw.
