Still organic red wine from Carmignano DOCG, 14% ABV, produced by Fattoria Ambra. Blend: 70% Sangiovese, 20% Canaiolo Nero, 10% Cabernet Franc. 0.75L bottle, 2021 vintage. Carmignano is one of the smallest and oldest appellations in the world. Carmignano Riserva “Montalbiolo” is a blend of a large percentage of Sangiovese with a small amount of Canaiolo and Uva Francesca (Cabernet). Maceration on the skins for 20-25 days with temperature-controlled délestage and pumping over. Malolactic fermentation. Aged for 2 years in wood: the first year in French oak tonneaux (3.5 and 5 hectoliters) and the second year in large Slavonian oak barrels (25 hectoliters). Bottled for 1 year. A very intense and layered nose with notes of wild berries and violets, sweet spices, and cured tobacco. Ruby red in color. Full-bodied, well-balanced, and punctuated by well-dissolved tannins. Long-lasting finish.
