Barolo Cascina Francia is a Piedmontese wine with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG), which takes its name from the vineyard of the same name located in the countryside of the municipality of Serralunga. This still red wine is the result of the marriage of traditional techniques and modern technology. Planted in the Langhe, the grape variety is grown on a calcareous soil that gives the wine a marked salinity. Made from a 100% Nebbiolo blend, Barolo Cascina Francia from the Giacomo Conterno winery is a high-quality wine produced from grapes that benefit from a ventilated microclimate. Once ripe, the grapes are harvested and processed in the cellar, where the Nebbiolo grapes are crushed and destemmed. The must is then fermented in stainless steel vats, which takes place at a controlled temperature, without the addition of yeasts. The fermentation process is accompanied by 3 or 4 pumpings over performed daily. This is followed by the malolactic fermentation phase. After this, the aging phase begins, which takes place in 500-liter tonneaux. This phase lasts for 48 months. The wine is then bottled and, before being released on the market, undergoes another brief aging in the bottle. The result is a wine of the highest quality, elegant and persistent. An wine product that is an international ambassador for an important local production.
