Matassa – Rouge 2022

Rouge 2022 by is a popular natural wine made in the hot south of France, in Roussillon, with 100% grapes taken from very old vines seemingly 100+ years old. The grapes are fermented destemmed, giving it a slight vegetal touch and mild spicy element. Aged using various vessels such as cement tanks, clay and neutral, old wooden barrels.

Despite being 11.5%, on this 2022 Matassa Rouge vintage you can expect some nice French soul, a little tannic grip and a perfect pairing for a cheeseboard!

How does Matassa Rouge 2022 taste?

We enjoyed a lot of mostly fruit-forward notes like blueberry, stewed apple alongside some mild herbal hints and subtle vanilla creamy vibes. This is a perfect Carignan!
