How is ‘Supernova’ by Michi Lorenz made?
This macerated wine called Supernova is made with grapes grown on red and blue slate soils in Styria, and is a no added sulphites wine that winemaker Michi Lorenz describes as having a LOT of depth, with the minerality playing a key role in that. Expect a slightly salty aspect in this wine, which sounds super interesting (some say its a little wild and crazy!)
Who is Michi Lorenz?
Michi Lorenz is an up-and-coming superstar of the Austrian wine region, farming 16 hectares of steep vineyards in the southern front of the Sausal mountains, in a small place called Kitzeck im Sausal.
Schist and slate soils dominate here, offering distinct minerality in the wines of the region and when made naturally like Michi Lorenz who favours wines without added sulphites, the minerality and precision shines even more.
