Strong woman with a stronger rum.
Owney Madden, a gangster from Rockaway Beach, is the inspiration behind Owney’s Rum from Noble Experiment Distillery. Founder Bridget Firtle named it after the rum runner who had an estate in Rockaway in NYC, home to her parents’ longstanding bar as well. But unlike the rum Owney favored, his namesake is one of the purest around, made with the highest grade molasses and non GMO sugarcane from Louisiana and Florida. NYC water rounds out this proud glass-ceiling shattering woman’s rum and makes it our favorite this year!
How to have it: The “Negrowney” – 1 oz Owney’s, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 1 oz campari over cracked ice. Garnish with orange twist.
