Incredible story to this interesting wine Poliphonia by Pheasant’s Tears.
When Communism was controlling the country, the government decided that only 3-4 grapes would be permissable to grow, which had the best yield. This means that over 500 native grapes would be disgarded.
The story goes that when Communism fell, three producers were asked to keep a portion of the grapes alive using a vine library of seeds. This wine thus features a field blend of an incredible 417 GRAPES!
Tasting wise, it has a little Volatile Acidity which really lifts the wine in freshness rather than being off-putting. It’s a beautiful wine to discuss and enjoy over time. Notes of raspberry syrup, lime, gooseberry and white pepper.
