Pio Cesare Barolo Pio 2021

This year’s reissues are poignant because Pio Boffa recently passed away. This is the estate’s classic Barolo, made from Nebbiolo grapes located on the best plots in different communes since 1881. The wine is floral, focused on violet and rose, with a splash of blood orange, but a darker, chocolaty fruit flavour. Firm, extracted and robust in the moment, with a good but austere finish, it will age gracefully. (tasted blind by Aldo Fiorerdelli)
