Medalla Real Gran Reserva was created in 1983 in honor of the Marqués de Casa Real, Francisco García Huidobro, who established Chile’s first mint and is one of the ancestors of the family that founded Viña Santa Rita. To commemorate the bicentennial of this event, a special medallion was minted with his silhouette and the symbol of the Royal Spanish Crown. Our Medalla Real Gran Reserva Carmenére is from our certified sustainable estate vineyards in Cochagua valley, one of the world’s fines wine regions. The grapes were grown in two main areas within the Colchagua valley, the special conditions provided in this areas are ideal for long cycle varieties such as Carmenére. The soils from granitic origin soils and different depths have good clay contents to retain moisture, resulting in wines with great texture and soft tannins.
