Tenuta di Collosorbo Brunello di Montalcino is a still red wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. It is produced in Tuscany, specifically south of Montalcino, between Castelnuovo dell’Abate and Sant’Angelo in Colle, where the 30 hectares of vineyards of the Collosorbo estate are located. We are approximately 250 meters above sea level, in an area ideally suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese grapes due to the protection from rainstorms guaranteed by Mount Amiata and the surrounding hills. Not to mention that the typical winds of the area ensure dry conditions during harvest time. It is one of the terroirs that make up the enchanting mosaic of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Given specific climatic conditions, the estate’s vineyards are home to calcareous-clayey, ferrous, or pebbly soils. The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Tenuta di Collosorbo is obtained from a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes grown in the best vineyards, all trained using the spurred cordon system. Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand in small baskets, as was the custom decades ago. The selection is rapid, consisting of at least two steps. Following delicate destemming, the grapes are fermented at a controlled temperature, while the use of continuous pumping over during the vinification process helps create an elegant Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Aging in Slavonian oak barrels lasts approximately 3 years, while bottle aging continues for 8 months.
