The Weninger Steiner site in Sopron is located in the south-western corner of Lake Neusiedl, on a slight slope to the east. In the Sopron annals, this vineyard was classified in 1680 as the best and most expensive vineyard in western Hungary (today’s Burgenland). The gneiss and mica slate that comes to the surface makes the soil permeable, therefore dry and hot.
Fourth Furmint vintage from the Steiner site. The barren soil of the site seems ideal for this strain. Unlike on the lime, it gets a slightly more mature, golden aroma here.
