The Ferrari Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore is a classic method sparkling wine. A timeless signature Cru that has become a legend. It is blended with 100% Chardonnay grapes from the Maso Pianizza vineyard, which faces 500-600 meters southwest in the municipality of Trento, Trentino Alto Adige. The Ferrari Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore boasts the DOC recognition. The Ferrari cellars were born from the dream of winemaker Giulio Ferrari to create a wine in Italy along the lines of French Champagne. Annual production was very small and prohibitively expensive, but in 1952 the winery was acquired by local wine merchant Bruno Lunelli. Ferrari’s winemaking expertise and Lunelli’s entrepreneurial skills decreed the success of the company, which increased production to 100,000 bottles annually. Even today, the Ferrari winery produces exclusively Classic Method Sparkling Wines. The Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore was created in 1972 and has since won countless awards both in Italy and abroad as a symbol of Italian elegance. The Chardonnay grapes for the Ferrari Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore are carefully selected and rigorously hand-picked no earlier than mid-September. The aging lasts 10 years on the lees of its own cultures, giving the Spumante Riserva del Fondatore, the winery’s flagship, a lingering aroma of acacia honey, ripe hay, and floral notes.
